 Term of office: 6 years, current term expires in 2010

 Duties of the office:

  • Train election poll workers - work with political parties - to get election poll workers
  • Count ballots following elections
  • Provide a list of the number of votes cast per precinct to the public
  • Maintain payroll for all county employees
  • Maintain all county financial accounts
  • Maintain all orders of County Commission
  • Record minutes of County Commission

 Use the County Clerk's office to:

  • To access copies of records
  • Register to vote, change party affiliation/address/last name on voter registration
  • File deeds, trust deeds, births, marriages, deaths, miscellaneous judgements and platmaps
  • File wills and estates
  • Purchase hunting/fishing licenses
  • Real estate research
  • Geneology research
  • For candidates, file campaign campaign financial statements

 We also:

  • Issue marriage licenses (Same day - $36.00, no waiting period or blood test)
  • Record oil/gas leases
  • Issue Justification of Surety (for Property Bond)
  • Redeem delinquent land sold for taxes

  • Set up special voters registration programs
  • Speak with with groups about the election process
